Que ressent-on lorsque l\u2019on quitte tout pour recommencer ailleurs\u2009? Pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e jusqu\u2019au 4\u00a0septembre 2022 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9comus\u00e9e du Fier Monde, l\u2019exposition \u00ab\u2009Chercher le printemps \u2014 parcours crois\u00e9s de femmes immigrantes dans le Centre-Sud\u2009\u00bb montre l\u2019humaine derri\u00e8re la migration. 21 femmes se racontent, \u00e0 travers leur arriv\u00e9e, leur int\u00e9gration, leurs doutes et leurs d\u00e9fis.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Mettre des visages sur l\u2019immigration, les chiffres, les articles d\u00e9sincarn\u00e9s et les discours politiques. C\u2019est la volont\u00e9 de Laurence Dompierre-Major, documentariste et photographe derri\u00e8re l\u2019exposition \u00ab\u2009Chercher le printemps \u2014 parcours crois\u00e9s de femmes immigrantes dans le Centre-Sud\u2009\u00bb, visible jusqu\u2019au 4\u00a0septembre 2022 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9comus\u00e9e du Fier Monde.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elle y expose une s\u00e9rie de 21\u00a0portraits d\u2019h\u00e9ro\u00efnes et de leur histoire. 21 femmes qui, comme tant d\u2019autres, sont venues chercher le printemps au Canada jusque dans le quartier montr\u00e9alais Centre-Sud. Elles ont toutes fini par le trouver, d\u2019une mani\u00e8re ou d\u2019une autre, \u00e0 leur<\/em> mani\u00e8re surtout.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009Chaque parcours est unique. C\u2019est un long processus de se sentir bien dans ses baskets, m\u00eame quand l\u2019immigration est choisie\u2009\u00bb, explique la documentariste. Pour elle, le plus important \u00e9tait que ces femmes aient la place de raconter leur parcours, leurs doutes, leurs accomplissements. Elles ont donc fait partie int\u00e9grante du processus d\u2019\u00e9criture. \u00ab\u2009Je voulais qu\u2019elles soient en accord, y compris pour les photos, m\u00eame si c\u2019est plus difficile\u2009\u00bb, rit-elle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Toutes les entrevues ont eu lieu entre d\u00e9cembre 2021 et avril 2022. Ce projet est r\u00e9alis\u00e9 par le Carrefour de ressources en interculturel (CRIC) dans le cadre du projet <\/span>Raconte-moi Centre-Sud<\/a><\/span> du <\/span>Mouvement Courtepointe<\/a><\/span>. Il devait faire parler les personnes immigrantes du quartier. R\u00e9sultat, ce sont uniquement des femmes qui se sont port\u00e9es volontaires. \u00ab\u2009On a donc d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de se concentrer sur les femmes, qui ont en plus un r\u00f4le important dans les familles et les communaut\u00e9s\u2009\u00bb, explique Mme\u00a0Dompierre-Major. <\/span><\/p>\n

Un r\u00f4le important<\/h2>\n

L\u2019instabilit\u00e9 et le flou de la migration. L\u2019impression d\u2019\u00eatre dans un brouillard, sans rep\u00e8res. Autant de sensations largement partag\u00e9es par les femmes qui se racontent dans l\u2019exposition et le livre du m\u00eame nom. Les structures communautaires du quartier ont tout chang\u00e9 pour elles. Ce soutien et l\u2019implication b\u00e9n\u00e9vole leur ont permis de d\u00e9velopper un sentiment d\u2019appartenance, une l\u00e9gitimit\u00e9. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab\u2009J\u2019ai habit\u00e9 pendant 5\u00a0ans dans le quartier Saint-Laurent, tr\u00e8s arabophone. Mais, en 2011, j\u2019ai d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d\u2019immigrer dans le Centre-Sud\u2009\u00bb, explique Samar Almsiati, ing\u00e9nieure arriv\u00e9e en 2006 avec sa petite famille. Immigrer, c\u2019est ainsi qu\u2019elle a v\u00e9cu son d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement, comme une deuxi\u00e8me vie au Qu\u00e9bec. Install\u00e9e aux abords d\u2019un parc, elle raconte s\u2019\u00eatre li\u00e9e avec ses voisins qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois. <\/span><\/p>\n

Avec ce nouveau d\u00e9part, elle d\u00e9cide de s\u2019impliquer avec le CRIC pour accompagner les familles arabophones et surtout syriennes, fuyant la guerre. \u00ab\u2009J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 m\u2019int\u00e9grer, cela m\u2019a donn\u00e9 de la confiance en moi\u00a0et maintenant, je connais bien le droit, les aspects administratifs de l\u2019immigration\u2009\u00bb, partage celle qui a d\u00fb, elle aussi, tout recommencer, de l\u2019apprentissage du fran\u00e7ais \u00e0 l\u2019obtention de dipl\u00f4mes pour finir par appartenir \u00e0 l\u2019Ordre des ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/span><\/p>\n

Un peu de soi ici<\/h2>\n

Les mettre en avant, valider leurs parcours, valider leur pr\u00e9sence ici. C\u2019est ce que l\u2019exposition a accompli pour elles. Partager son histoire a permis \u00e0 Sophie Kahuongo Mulanga, 72\u00a0ans et originaire de R\u00e9publique d\u00e9mocratique du Congo, de changer un parcours \u00ab\u2009honteux\u2009\u00bb en un combat fier et courageux. \u00ab\u2009C\u2019est une joie d\u2019avoir r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 venir ici et je suis heureuse d\u2019avoir laiss\u00e9 un peu de moi ici\u2009\u00bb, raconte-t-elle en pointant du doigt son portrait accroch\u00e9 au mur du mus\u00e9e.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s qu\u2019elle et sa famille ont re\u00e7u des menaces de mort et que sa maison a \u00e9t\u00e9 pill\u00e9e, elle d\u00e9cide de ne pas retourner dans son pays. En 2018, elle est aux \u00c9tats-Unis pour son travail et d\u00e9cide d\u2019entrer au Canada par le chemin Roxham. \u00ab\u2009Je n\u2019\u00e9tais pas pr\u00e9par\u00e9e, je ne savais m\u00eame pas o\u00f9 aller\u2009\u00bb, partage Sophie. D\u00e9sempar\u00e9e, angoiss\u00e9e, elle s\u2019imaginait mourir dans la for\u00eat. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un chauffeur somalien, elle parvient \u00e0 entrer et \u00e0 demander l\u2019asile. <\/span><\/p>\n

Parler de son histoire \u00ab\u2009honteuse\u2009\u00bb a \u00e9t\u00e9 pour elle une grande lib\u00e9ration. \u00ab\u2009Maintenant je suis \u00e9panouie, gr\u00e2ce au CRIC et \u00e0 ce projet\u2009\u00bb, partage-t-elle dans un sourire. Plus que de se raconter et d\u2019aider \u00e0 comprendre le parcours de ces femmes, l\u2019exposition et le livre ont pu redonner de la dignit\u00e9 \u00e0 ces h\u00e9ro\u00efnes que l\u2019on conna\u00eet trop peu.<\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019exposition est accessible jusqu\u2019au 4 septembre 2022 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9comus\u00e9e du Fier Monde<\/a>, et sera \u00e9galement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto, du 10 septembre 2022 au 23 octobre 2022<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
