Mais savez-vous qu\u2019au Qu\u00e9bec, votre v\u00e9hicule doit absolument \u00eatre assur\u00e9 au moins pour la responsabilit\u00e9 civile?<\/p>\n<p>En fait, il y a deux r\u00e9gimes d\u2019assurance auto qui fonctionnent conjointement au Qu\u00e9bec :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un r\u00e9gime public, celui de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019assurance automobile du Qu\u00e9bec (SAAQ), qui sert \u00e0 couvrir les dommages corporels \u00e0 la suite d\u2019un accident de la route. Vous contribuez \u00e0 ce r\u00e9gime lorsque vous payez votre permis de conduire (pour de plus amples renseignements, visitez le site <a href=\"https:\/\/saaq.gouv.qc.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/saaq.gouv.qc.ca\/<\/a> ).<\/li>\n<li>Un r\u00e9gime priv\u00e9, celui des compagnies d\u2019assurance, qui sert \u00e0 couvrir les dommages mat\u00e9riels au v\u00e9hicule, ainsi que la responsabilit\u00e9 civile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alors, avant de prendre la route, vous devrez communiquer avec un assureur ou avec un courtier, afin de souscrire une assurance priv\u00e9e qui couvrira votre responsabilit\u00e9 civile pour un minimum de 50 000 $, comme l\u2019exige la <em>Loi sur l\u2019assurance automobile<\/em>. Cette portion d\u2019assurance obligatoire vous prot\u00e8gera pour :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Les dommages caus\u00e9s \u00e0 votre automobile lors d&rsquo;une collision au Qu\u00e9bec dont vous n&rsquo;\u00eates pas responsable;<\/li>\n<li>Les dommages mat\u00e9riels caus\u00e9s \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres et dont vous \u00eates responsable;<\/li>\n<li>Les dommages mat\u00e9riels et corporels lorsqu&rsquo;un accident dont vous \u00eates responsable survient \u00e0 l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ce montant de 50 000 $ pourrait ne pas suffire, notamment en cas de poursuites aux \u00c9tats-Unis ou ailleurs au pays. Il peut donc \u00eatre augment\u00e9 \u00e0 1 ou 2 millions $ \u00e0 votre demande.<\/p>\n<p>De plus, sachez que l\u2019assurance responsabilit\u00e9 civile est une protection de base. Vous avez bien entendu la possibilit\u00e9 de prot\u00e9ger aussi votre v\u00e9hicule contre le vol, la gr\u00eale, le vandalisme ou les dommages r\u00e9sultant d\u2019une collision dont vous seriez responsable, etc. Parlez-en \u00e0 votre assureur ou \u00e0 votre courtier.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que l\u2019assurance responsabilit\u00e9 civile automobile est obligatoire au Qu\u00e9bec, il existe un m\u00e9canisme d\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l\u2019assurance qui permet \u00e0 tout propri\u00e9taire de s\u2019assurer au moins en responsabilit\u00e9 civile.
